2024 Paul C. Harris, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Application Guidelines

The Camden County East Branch of the NAACP awards the Paul C. Harris, Sr. Memorial Scholarship annually. Scholarships will be awarded to two students who exhibit leadership and service in their school and community. First place awardee will receive a scholarship in the amount of $1200.00, and second- place student will receive a scholarship in the amount of $800.00. Eligible students must be a graduating senior of a high school in Camden County.  To apply, students must meet the following requirements:

1.  Applicants must provide an official high school transcript sent from the school.
2.  Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation prior to the application deadline. Letters of      recommendation can be academic, from an employer or an officer of a community service organization; letters of recommendation are not to be submitted by family members.
3. Applicants must submit an official letter of acceptance from an accredited college or university. If the graduating high school applicant has not received a letter of acceptance prior to the application deadline, the applicant is permitted to submit the official letter of acceptance from an accredited college or university upon receipt. Please note, the official documentation of enrollment MUST be received by the Camden County East NAACP prior to its issuing of award monies.
4. The applicant must show a commitment to civil rights advocacy by way of community service as it relates to the objectives of the NAACP (see essay question application).
5.  Minimum GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

*If a candidate is selected to receive an award, he/she will be notified by mail  no later than July 31, 2024.
*Candidates not notified may then assume they have not been selected and will receive no other written notice.
